I got my second port placed this year in april (april 1st haha what a day to get surgery eh?) anyways, its def. better than a picc. for me its sometimes easy access...the most trouble I have with it is when the tubing flips and they dont get a blood return...but it eventually flips back into place...its great! I go on meds with it this year its been 4 times Ive used it for a 3 week period...last year its was around the same amount of time for the whole year....its def. awesome!

Hello!

I got my port last December because I had always had little problems with PICC lines, and then I started to get blood clots, because my veins were bad to begin with, and then since I had a bunch of IV meds, it just completley destroyed my veins, so my doctor said that I didn't really have too much of a choice.

But, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my port!!!

Even blood drawing was this huge ordeal, they'd try my hand, wrist, and then they'd finally get it out of my foot, and now, they stick a needle in my port, get blood right away, and it barely hurts at all.

So, I think getting the port was one of the best things I have done! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

It varies how often I get IV meds, lately, it's been around every 6 month or year.

But, I think my port is great, and the monthly flushing isn't bad at all!

Good Luck! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
