telling work about cf

i didn't tell my boss untill i was hopitolized and had to miss a few days of work. i don't know if thats the best way to go, but it worked for me.

I totally sympathize with not wanting your boss and/or coworkers to know unless absolutly necessary

but, as a mom of a kid with CF I would not want her in your class. I just would not. HIPPA aside you owe it to the kids in your class who could be compromised (not just CFers) to let someone know. I suggest starting with the school nurse.

There is a medical clinic on the campus where I work; one of my co-workers actually scheduled me an appointment to get tested for asthma. I believe that is when I first told someone and that was after about 2 years of working there (I'm going on my 5th year now). I still get the 'you still have that cough' or 'you should get that cough checked out' from time to time. I usually wait until the same person has commented several times (and seems concerned) before I let them know that the cough is here to stay!

I've never told co-workers I had CF unless I needed to (because they were concerned). I've just never wanted the sympathy that generally comes once people knowing.
