so there is no tactful way to talk about poop..but since we all have c.f here..surely no one gets grossed out! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> well first of all i was born with a macconium illeus (bowel obstruction) i went into surgery the day i was born and had part of my intestines removed..and an illeostomy (not sure of spelling) bag placed. well i was rid of the "poop bag" shortly later and never had any problems with my intestines again..until highschool i have had about 5 bowel obstructions in the last 10 years...all able to be resolved with tons of miralax and go-liteley back to back at the hospital. well this go around i have not gotten relief yet. i was working out in a kick boxing class when i started having the stomach cramping and spasming. i thought it was gas and ignored it for a few hours..until it got so painful that i couldnt. my intestines were contracting just like labor (but let me tell u it felt worse than my labor!!) i went to ER where they did a ct scan and saw the obstruction...they then gave me pain meds and the usual miralax and go-litely regiman. i finally started going to the restroom and thought "whoo glad this is all over with"...but it wasnt...i am still having pain in my lower left side ..sharp pain when i move and still the occasional spasm. which makes me think there is still something there. They cleared me to go home after another x-ray showing no more obstruction...so what could this be??? is it possible that i could have twisted my intestine during my kick boxing class or even kinked it?? any comments would be appreaciated, bc i am affraid i may have to go back in if it does not get any better!

terrible paine in my intestines!??

ok, I had this exact thing happen to me right around your age... when i was born i had the exact samething you had done....when they did a ct at that time it showed a obstruction...then they gave me poop medicine...and it showed cleared...but i still had pain...a week later...after several enemas and ct...they did surgery..turned out to be scar tissue from my surgery when i was born...i was then told because of the surgery when i was born ..now my ct's give false readings because of the damage done from those surgery's/... the ct showed the obstruction was gone but it never was...the scarring will through off the ct or the ct wont even show the scarring...this is super serious problem you are having...you need to get back into the hospital or see another gi specialist..asap

terrible paine in my intestines!??

Last summer DS had an obstruction that wouldn't clear. Turned out he had adhesions from his original surgery. So they did surgery, but after a few days he didn't poop, so they did cts, ultrasounds, xrays -- used contrast and they just couldn't figure things out. His colon was empty, so somewhere up the line there was some sort of issue.

DH spent most of the day and night rubbing DS' stomach. They kept running go lightly down his ng tube, then tried mucomyst and finally they scheduled exploratory surgery the next morning. That night the pain was horrible and DH swore he felt a hard piece of something breaking loose. The next morning as I was answering the nurses pre-op questions, DS indicated he had to go and he pretty much let loose. He pretty much had some meconium equivilant lodged somewhere in his intestinal tract and it broke loose in the 11th hour.

Okay, I also had the muconium plug and the colostomy bag for 7 months. I had a bowel obstruction at 7 and part of my instestine was cut out (they didnt put mucomyst in though so I was still blocked even after the surgery) b/c I had adhesions on the inside. The doctor described them like spider webs that kinda float like they would in the wind and sometimes they actually attach and then you have an obstruction from scar tissue.

I had another one at 20, and I remember distincly asking my mom if that was what labor contractions where like, b/c I would just start crying after hours of it cramping and contracting. I could see my intestine contract through my belly like a snake and it would stop, I todl my doctor, "theres the poo ball right there" haha

My 20 year old BO ended up being from scar tissue on the outside, a string had somehow connected but it had kidna looped and twisted my bowels (He showed us w/ string) but he had to like flip it around and lay it out flat again with a laproscopic surgery. All he had to do was cut the scar tissue connecting on the outside though this time which was awesome b/c that meant NO added scar tissue for the future.

I realize this is older, but have you pooped yet? If it is a kink or a twist, I wouldnt think anything would be able to pass through. You could have cleaned out the bottom of the bowels with the last "let loose"

Also, make sure to keep super hydrated, I had another BO most likely from dehyration, causing more mucus build up etc.. an enema and fluids got rid of that one.

I hope this helps and I hope you are feeling better. I have only had the few BO's and they are really hard on me.
