The Danish Way

man night, i don't get you. all amy was doing was posting abstacts about the danish way of doing things...not saying that she agreed with it...and you go on this huge rant. Its good to be sceptical and all but seriously, it seems like you just like arguing for the sake of...well arguing. Ya there could be complications from the frequent abx use, and ya most people hate iv's, but i think the main idea is that doctors are too hesitant to use antibiotics with cf patients regarding resistance when in reality resistance is not the problem. The problem is the continued colinization of bugs that gradually degrade our lungs.

Anyways, regardless as how sceptical you are, they are the ones living into their 50's. coincidence?

Just a wee add on about mutations, and how they are regarded in Europe. I recall some European countries (FRance and possibly Denmark) may be declassifying some gene mutations, particullary RH114, from the list of CF mutations.

With the gene pool being small in Denmark maybe they do have less 'severe' mutations. On the otherhand, didn't CF originate in Northern Europe, in which case they surely will have the 'worst' mutations out there( just like everywhere else).

So it must come down to compliance and standard of living.

Craig.

For anybody who's a member or is interested in CFRI, Dr. Strandvik from Sweden will be a guest speaker at this year's conference, which will focus on 'The Swedish Experience.' CFRI puts on an absolutely wonderful conference every year in late July/early August in San Francisco, and isn't too expensive for people to attend. www.cfri.org
