Mumma,

I had to laugh when I saw the title of your post! Bek's doc put her on Ciproheptadine, which is an appetite stimulant. Since the drug name, and what it does are both too much of a mouthful for her to say, she would call the nurse after I ordered her dinner and ask for her 'hungry pill'!

At first, she was on 2 mg (1/2 tab) 30 minutes before each meal, and all I was seeing was her sleeping from 4 in the afternoon until 7 or later in the evening. She would eat dinner and then do her vest and breathing treatment. Ten minutes into her vest she was sound asleep again.

She now just takes it before dinner, but since she was just in the hospital for 12 days and not feeling good, I've yet to really see a difference in her appetite. I will probably give it another week and then make the decision as to whether or not to keep her on it.

Thank you all for responding!

The "hungry" pill is actually working great for Laci. i give it to her like an hour before bedtime because it makes her sleepy so I don't want to give it to her too early. She usually falls asleep between 7:30 and 8:00 then she wakes up around 8:30am and has 3 bowls of cereal instead of 1!!
I can't imagine that we won't see results from this.

Glad to hear you have such good results. Now if you could get some extra calories in those extra helpings. Does she like eggs? Maybe do a cheesy scrambled egg or use cream or half n half in the cereal instead of milk etc
