The New Lung Transplant Guy

I saw on the news today that the guys who got the double lung transplant after his first set of lungs went down in the plane crash, didn't have CF he had COPD after many years of being a heavy smoker...

I always get such mixed emotions when I hear someone who was a heavy smoker got new lungs when so many ppl who didn't do anything to thier lungs die waiting for lung transplants......

No mixed emotions from me, just pissed at the way the system can work. Don't smoke, period. Let someone who didn't deliberately CREATE their condition receive a second chance at life.

Not impressed by this!! I get so mad when I hear these type of stories. It's just not fair. So, now someone who did nothing to deserve crappy lungs is sitting waiting. I am a nurse and when I worked in trauma (I work at a level I trauma center/transplant center in Wisconsin), I had such a hard time taking care of these people who do damage to themselves. It's just like all the gunshot patients who are unemployed for no good reason except laziness, yet I have a chronic/terminal illness and I'm working my butt off and my hard earned tax money goes to support them!! Sorry...just peeved!! Good luck to all of you waiting for lungs. Your turn will come soon.

Good i'm not the only one who gets a little irked when i hear about these things!

I know bottom line we can't really feel bad, but for people like US, with lung probs we did nothing to deserve them for, it is a kick in the ass kind of....whatever. Glad he's ok is all i can say i guess...
