I always like to hear when someone with CF receives lungs.
The new allocation system (unos.org) provides lungs to all CF patients first (finally after many years) Obviously this man who received lungs was in a different size and blood type category than a person with CF within their transplant region.
I am hoping that this man will do something wonderful for humanity now that he has a second chance at life. I never heard of a smoker who received new lungs talk in the public about the dangers of smoking. When I tell someone that I received new lungs, the first thing they say is "are you a smoker"?
This man's story will be in the public eye again, I am sure. Let us hope he can make a difference.
