The Picky Eater Strikes Again

He's just started dipping things. Otherwise preferred most his food plain. He'll dip his chicken nuggets in ketchup. At preschool he doesn't like spaghetti sauce, but he'll let them put ketchup on it. And I wish he'd like ranch dressing, but so far hasn't expressed an interest. I'm sure if he did, I'd be loading syringes of that, too. Bleah!

I think my blog has gremlins. I was just able to post a comment, but the other day I tried to add a new category and it wouldn't show up.

How old is he? You know kids often want to eat strange things when there is someting in it that they need. In ketchup I would guess it could be the salt because ketchup has a ton of salt in it and so do pickles. Try adding a teaspoon of salt to a cup of gateraide and see if it helps at all. That is too funny. At least ketchup is cheaper than shrimp which is what my son often desires to eat. When he was younger he would eat cottage cheese, pickles, tomatoes, and cheese together. Good Luck

He's 4. I'm assuming it's a salt issue, too. He also grabs the salt shaker licks salt off his hand. Loves pickles -- sometimes asks for a pickle sandwich.

My wife keeps telling me the vinegar is good for the body...I think it is especially good for the pancreas, either that, or it was the liver. Sour, or bitter foods are equally as healthy.
Ketchup has a ton of salt, as well as an equally large amount of vinegar.
I'm sure you know peanut butter has a lot of protein in it, as well as a good supply of unsaturated fats (the easier to digest fats) and some other healthy goodies.
In Japan, they have this particular vinegar drink, called "Kurozu", or translated to English, "Black Vinegar". It doesn't have as big of a vinegar taste to it, actually much easier to swallow, but it's not my preferred drink, either
I'm kinda blank on the ketchup idea, most stuff I put in on in Japan is usually Japanese foods...they don't even make it a condiment at McD's here, unless you request it.
I miss cottage cheese! I usually would mix it with marshmallows and pineapple (Pineapple is another thing the wife said was healthy...but for the lungs!!).
However, I don't know if its age, or a bad experience, but many years ago I used to be able to take a large sum of salt, straight. Now, if I happen to over-salt my food, I get nauseated! Could've been when the ex had made some odd concoction of her Curry Rice and I happened to over-salt it because it had no flavor in it, and I was in a dehydration stage, at the time!!
