I do not know but it is.Isaiah was dxed at 2 months old basically and loves cpt but wont do the vest so we do all cpt 3 times a day.he has loved it since was a baby and nothing else to him will do. I guess it it all up to what the child feels as comfort. mAYBE its the closeness of him and me time and the singing i do when i am doing pitty pat as we call it . We started lately talking about what a good cough is and a bad cough is . Kids will let you what they want and are ready to know i am learning.I am stubburn and want him doing the vest because it will do better then cpt i feel but i will not stress over it and continue cpt until he allows me to use the vest for part of his therapy... the docotr says i am lucky to have a child so in love with cpt because most hate it or are difficult during it , he on the other hand wants more and more of it... makes me smile just thinking of how he asks me for it ... kids are amazing!

What does he say about the vest -- does it hurt, is he bored or lonely? Has he tried to explain why he won't use the vest?

One of us (sometimes both) still hang out with DS during vest/cpt time. We get his tv show or video picked out, see if he wants a snack... We just all sprawl out on our bed. We figure when he's older we'll see about getting some sort of gaming system for him to play with during treatments. Doesn't quite have the attention span for playstation or xbox games yet. I figure when he's older he's not going to want to hang out with his parents during treatment times and when we go thru the lack of personal hygeine phase that most boys go thru -- refusal to bathe, I'm not going to want to snuggle down with him.

so true>>>lol.. He tells us it hurts but we have tryed everything but i think it boils down to he loves mommy time with cpt ,its a sense of security for him brings him comfort i feel . He is used to to it and like me does not like change.....So i think his personality has alot to do with it in the end and the hospital went through the it hurts tirant with him when they tryed to use the vest on him and i laughed at them when they said they would get him to use it and low and behold guess what ,it was cpt that won there and the precussor he likes those two because it soothes him and brings him some form of security once again.. so no vest and no worries but i have the machine should at 5,6, or 7 he wants to use it......

Why is everything about CF do gosh darn difficult???????</end quote></div>

I don't know; all I know is that I'm trying as hard as I can and it is still not enough. Our daughter has gotten much better about cooperating for breathing treatments but the vest is still a struggle. And time is so precious now, that working with her, being patient with her, letting 'her do it', etc. is wearing me out! I don't know how many times I have to say, "Honey, we don't HAVE TIME for 'you to do it'......." Aaargh! There are not enough hours in the day.

She likes to open the capsules and sprinkle her enzymes; she likes to open the TOBI and Plumozyne vials and squirt them in the nebs; I let her do it when I can so that she takes ownership of her treatment. Same thing with the vest - I let her buckle it, help put the hoses on, etc.

We only buckle the top buckle (we got the RT's okay on this) because our daughter complained that it hurt.
