Good whine SeanDavis,
I respect your opinion on that. I should say it was more a class to promote cultural awareness. It was also a private school (I did 1 yr of private school before graduating), not a public school and I've never heard of public schools or any other school for that matter doing material like that. As I said-it was a class really to educate kids about various cultures to make them aware. Not to at all to say that prejudice doesn't or shouldn't exist. I grew up in the suburbs of Jersey City. We KNEW prejudice existed.
I think the key to most political or other prejudice is probably ignorance. And I think if anything the class helped me appreciate various cultures, instead of just rushing to judge or laugh at them.
Having said that, I think the problem with this country is that right there. Ingorance. Wether you agreee with my above statement or not, you have to agree that this country-mostly the adults-are very ignorant to the world around us. If you've been to another country and talked to someone on the street you'd see what the rest of the world's persepctive is.
And SD-I agree with your statement that we should all 'know' right from wrong and how to treat others. But the bottom line is-WE DON"T! Its easy to say it though. But it takes action for people to change, and action for adults to educate our children. People/children have to be taught how to act and taught right from wrong. And that's the biggest problem with the world, and especially this country. No one is teaching our kids or adults how to act. B/c it's an anything goes attitude-do what you want-everything's acceptable. Right?
Regardless, SeanDavis. I have no intention of being argumentative with you! I mean it. I enjoy discussing things with you. And I respect your opinions. You seem like a smart guy who cares about the world he's living in. And you help alot of people on this site too.
I hope that you feel the same-I hope that your above comment was just for the sake of argument and not solely personal towards me.
