This changed her life

Hello,

I have a 22 year old daughter with CF. She finished college, majoring in PR/Marketing and was so excited to enter the career world. After six months, her hopes began to fade. The company she was working for changed the benefit package that left her with no option but to seek other employment. She taught school for six months but that exhausted her and soon sent her to a 28 day hospital stay. Then, an angel appeared and introduced her to the Mary Kay opportunity. I, as her mom, was very hesitant. But I thought a 100.00 investment with a 90% buy back after one year, nothing really to loose.

Well, that was one year ago. My daughter is blossoming and hasn't been in the hosptial in over a year and her PFT's are better than ever. She works her own hours, resting when necessary. She is a director making three times what I make teaching school. It is absolutely the best career for anyone with medical problems. She works from home many days and uses the interent as a tool for being successful

If anyone is interesed in learning more, I will be happy to share all the information with you. Mary Kay Skin Care and Cosmentics has been a message sent from God. And, to even make things better, Mary Kay's concept is God First, Family Second and Career third. Isn't that what CF patients must remember always in there lives?

Good to know.

I myself do outside sales and its been great!

As with any career, one can work oneself into the ground. It took me a while to figure out balance as well.

Thank you for the info!

That's very interesting that your daughter has managed to find a fullfilling carrer without wearing herself or her health down.
I think a mother that takes the time to realize how her daughter is doing what is working best for her and wants to share her wellbeing and how she's coping with others in a CF community. Especially since others come to this board asking what kind of jobs there are available while working from home, and how to work less hours without getting tired.
So thanks for the information, I'm sure some will find it very helpful.
I hope your daughter continues to do well!

Also the the anon. poster @ 10:12, don't bite the newbies, you don't know how sincere another person is.

I've heard of Mary Kay for years but never had any contact with a rep. Just this week I've heard of three! Sounds like a great opportunity. I wish her luck!

I am sure that your day is very full. I know how dedicated I was to one child; I can only imagine two children. If you would like to learn more, please email me at tschamer@vpsb.k12.la.us

I am enjoying watching her grow in her career. I have watched her help many housewives and those women in the 8-5 job force change their lives.

Tammy,

How wonderful for your daughter!

I have one quick question. You said she had to leave her job because of the benefit package. I am assuming you are talking about health insurance.

Does Mary Kay offer health insurance?

guys, this is so obviously a spam post! geez...

come on, their first post is pushing to join a company, not to mention the fact that it reads pretty much like a form letter, basically just "enter disease here".

I'd rather give the benefit of the doubt rather than jump down peoples throat like I've seen on this board. Not saying that you guys are... but it only takes one comment for a locked threat fight to start.

I seem to remember an incident, well actually a couple, where people jumped on newbies because they were believed to be spammers, or trolls, when in fact they were actually newbies with good intentions...
And hate to say it but if you think it's a scam why reply, just report it...

I don't say this with a mean voice (I know how hard it is to tell via the internet) but simply stating.
We've had enough thread wars on here to last a while without having another one start.

I'm not sure if this is spam or not. If it isn't, great for her, if it is spam oh well, but this statement kind of bothered me. I don't think ALL CF patients put God first, then family, then career always in their lives. Many of us don't even believe in God. If its your belief then that's fine, but its not always the belief for others. I always think that family should come first, but that's just me. After all, where would I be or who would I be without my family?

If you google her name you find her name (tammy's) is in a lot of CF related stuff. So it looks somewhat legit to me.

check it out

That article was from 1998 and her daughter was 14 so by my sad math abilities her daughter would be 22.

I did do Mary Kay myself for awhile and I found it to be exhausting. Doing parties at night that took a few hours and then selling the makeup, just wore me out. Yes it is flexible but you are trying to build a business and that takes alot of time and effort. To make the real money is to build a team, meaning you have people under you that sell the product and you make money off of them. I found it to be hard to do it takes alot of time to build a successful business, recruit people, stay on top of trying to sell product, buying product to have in your inventory so you have it on hand to sell etc. But at the same time if you have ALOT of contacts and friends and you can show the product to them and then they show it to their friends it might work. But again I found it to be a sales job and those jobs are tough, time consuming and exhausting if you want to be truly successful.

That was just my experience with it and I am in no way discouraging anyone from trying something. What was not good for me could be great for someone else. Just wanted to share since I did it for awhile.

Without addressing the affrontive nature of a newcomer of a forum, who on their first post, suggests to the general readership that she knows the correct positioning of their philosophical and religious priorities, I do think it is a bit quaint to suggest that "Mary Kay Skin Care and Cosmentics has been a message sent from God."

This could be legit, and this person is searchable, as mentioned by another. But it is also possible that this "person" is running the same line elsewhere on the internet.

If I am incorrect, Ms. Schamerhorn, then for my untrustworthiness I apologize. But I still don't believe that God cares a tinker's damn about mary kay. And angels, if they exist, have better things to do than shill cheap cosmetics to the downtrodden.

Why beat up on the Mary Kay lady....I bet we would be singing a different tune if she sold Avon.

Steve...I do agree this does smack of spam but I am taking Debbies research on this one and vote legit.

Timothy...I agree God probably dosen't care specifically about Mary Kay but to a mother thankful that her child found a job that allows her to take care of herself all the while making a decent living would defintily considered be a gift from God.

Well,

That is why I asked my question nicely. I want to give her the benefit of the doubt, BUT I have a HUGE doubt.

Mary Kay employees are independent contractors, and most IC's DO NOT receive health benefits. She stated her daughter had to leave because of her previous employers benefit package was not longer good enough, so why go to a company that has NO benefits??

Okay I have too much time on my hands, but I just ran her daughters name through the Mary Kay "find a consultant" search and came up Negative in every state and Guam.

My thought is this person does exist and her daughter does have CF but I don't know that I believe this message is legit, I think it's spam...

Well, myself I know I wouldn't care whether it was Mary Kay or Avon, but her original statement of "Mary Kay's concept is God First, Family Second and Career third. Isn't that what CF patients must remember always in there lives?" is a little preachy to me. I don't care what you're selling, or what company you work for, you shouldn't assume that every CFer (or non CFer), believes this philosophy.

I have to agree on this one Liz......my feathers got ruffled on that generalized statement. Maybe its my inability to hear or accept sayings as such without feeling preached too!

All I have to say is that if this is spam then this is HORRIBLE for anyone to do. Also, she says she was a teacher AND she spells lose as loose and their as there...a big pet peeve of me as a teacher.
