those fun little games we play while in the hospital

HAHAHAHAH this thread is GREAT.

I run laps around the nurse's station as well - no one can figure out (our CF floor shares the floor with the liver floor), especially the liver docs, which this patient is running around. and no one can really tell me to stop cuz it's good for me.

i'm in isolation but the USC Hospital is so wonderful that they don't keep patients in their rooms or all gowned up when they leave (THANKS TENET....).

i keep my door room open when my doc does rounds once a week. you know they do those discussions about you before they enter the room to then have the discussion with you? it's hysterical how uncomfortable the doc/attending/students/social worker get when they have to talk about you when you're listening. not sure why.... but they're so used to talking about the patient's progress and status with the door shut before they enter the patient's room.

i also write thank you notes to nurses/people who are extra nice to me or who go out of their way to do something helpful. many of these people are super overworked and stressed out and everyone likes to feel like someone noticed their hard work once in a while.

i go out on super long walks too. i think the fresh air is good and getting moving outside of the hospital is good too. some nurses freak out, but i don't worry about that.

i like to argue with the fUCLA people who work at my hospital. they get so mad when i tell them their FB team has never won a national championship (they've only SHARED one, which seriously, that doesn't count). it amuses me to no end.....

Oooo! Oooooo! I have one!

When its urine sample time tell the nurse that you just went to the bathroom and you'll give it to her in a while. Then stick your little cup of apple juice in your shirt to warm it up. Give it about 45 minutes if its cold. Dump the juice in the specimen cup, then call the nurse. Ask her if she thinks your pee looks funny. When she says yes say "Well, better run it through again!" Then take the lid off and drink it. The nurse will be in utter shock! LOL.

I forgot about that one! I do that too- why can I find out more about how my doctors think I'm doing by "evesdropping" than by talking to them? Arggh... I also find out a good bit about my "neighbors"- so much for HIPA, huh?
