I'm rarely hospitalized - knock on wood - because I get my treatments at home, but I am really enjoying this thread. Thanks, Robert! Your ideas, Robert, are hilarious. You are very mischievious!

-hide and go seek with the nurses is a fun game, you go off somewhere in the hospital right before meds and see how long it takes the nurses to find you

-find any excuse to go take a walk

-move the furnature around in the room, it freaks out the nurses

-stay up late, the hospital is so much more interesting in the middle of the night
</end quote>

Hehe...I so do the ones above. The hospital at night is so fun. You wouldn't believe how hopping it can be. I've made friends with many a night time security guard or night aid.

Here's a list of what I do:

- make friends with the night ward aides. I have them running around doing the weirdest stuff for me at night.

- I write on the white board at the end of my bed. I get everyone to sign it when they come in to see me.

- I always go for walks before night meds. It's interesting to see how many times they'll page you back.

- steal a wack of face masks, and color on them. Whenever I have to wear them, I'll color a duck bill on one and wear it around. Its hilarious to see the looks I get from people!

- If I'm in isolation and can't leave my room, I invite some friends over, and we do a late night hang out session. We all color on our masks, so it looks like we're all animals.

- I order food in a lot. It's funny to see how much you can bug the staff with the fabulous smell of your non-cafeteria food.

in my room i have my own stethescope that all the people are sopposed to use when they come in to listen to me. i find that it is just a whole lot of jollys to hide it, they never ask where it is and just look around the room, while they have their back turned put it on the table in plain sight and watch them freak. Also there is a clock in my room, all the rooms have a clock in this hospital so the nurses don't look at their watches they look at the clock, so i set it ahead an hour, they usually notice something is amiss and i'll tell them if they don't but watching their reactions is always fun

I like giving the new nurses the shaky arm when they are drawing blood. Make them mess up a couple times! (It's just a poke right?)

Tease the nurses, thats always fun.

My hospital will often allow us to leave for a while, so it's not too boring. If I'm hungry and don't feel like having whats on the menu, and no meds are due, I can leave the hospital and go for a cruise across the city and find somewhere to eat, just to get away. Generally don't leave though because they actually have real good food. You call and order when you're hungry. They have the BEST turkey club I have ever had..no joke!
