doing a google search on acne may help you to understand what might be going on with your outbreaks...I'd like to think if you have a good doc, then taking the prescribed meds should help out...though it seems that estrogen levels have gone haywire..perhaps due to the ABX's?

Just my two yen, good luck in whatever you find.

I feel your pain, oh how I feel your pain. Or at least used to!

I had a horrible break out back in 2007 and needless to say, I'm way concerned with my face. I hate zits. Well I went to an awesome dermo and she put me on an RX (doxycycline...not sure how that is spelled) for it and certain gels, face wash, lotion, etc. And I started to use Jane Iredale make up. It's all natural, no fillers, no junk and it covers really well (i like full coverage make up to cover- or at least try to hide some of the freckles). I just use the foundation and powder from JI and then I use drug store eye liner, blush, etc. (cheaper)

And the real kicker, get on YAZ birth control. I LOVE IT. It has made my skin nearly perfect since 2007. No kidding. And I got my tubes tied back in Feb. so by next month I can go off the pill- but I don't think I will because it does so great for my face and I have no bad side effects from it like I did with other pills.

I would completely suggest going on YAZ. You can call your dermo and see if he/she would put you on it by phoning in an RX and you won't have to pay an office visit co-pay to the dermo or gyno.

I hope this works for you. Any questions, PM me.

Good luck!

One thing about the birth control (which did wonders for my skin too!) is that if you have stomach pains, stop taking it and tell your dr. BC pills can mess with your liver. And ask to get your liver numbers checked. I can't take the pill anymore due to that (though my liver numbers are fine now with medication). You might want to check into the Nuvaring- my gyn thinks that it would be easier on the liver since it is a continual dose of bc, instead of a single big shot to the liver everyday. I tried it before I had started insulin, and it made my blood sugar go up so I had to stop. I may try it again though. Oh, that's another thing- get a blood sugar meter (if you don't already have one ) and keep an eye on you blood sugars too if you decide to try the BC route . Man, I miss just popping that one little pill a day and having great skin!

One thing that has helped me a lot the last few years has been switching to mineral makeup. I order mine from a website called "Everyday Minerals" because their prices are so much more reasonable than the others I've checked. You probably already know this, but whatever kind of makeup you use, remember to keep your applicators/brushes either washed or replaced on a regular basis. I tend to forget until my face starts breaking out again . I wash my brushes for my mineral makeup with shampoo . Works well . I've also started using a plant derived glycerin soap this week- I think I'm going to like it .

Good luck, I hope you find something that works soon!

I use Pro Active. It has worked wonders. They are a decent company to work with too. It cost about 39.00 dollars every 3 months they just charge my card and send it along. If I get backed up with the product, ( like when I go in the hospital and too sick to even bother with my face,) I just call them and they make adjustments in the delivery system for me.

I break out under the skin with huge zits and they hurt and itch. I use no make- up and make sure my hair is clean every day . I do see a correlation with clean hair and acne. Definately have to wash with proactive in morn and night. I can't use moisturizer either. I wish I could but I break out with almost every brand I use. Drink water, drink water, drink water too.
