One of the best acne medications is Differin. It's a topical retinoid. It is rather pricey though, but it does not have the same side effects as oral medications such as accutane.

Other things that might help are some exposure to UV light, but it natural or via a tanning bed (don't over do it). Also witch hazel is often effective and is one of the main ingredients in Pro Active solution (I think I read a consumer report once that regular OTC acne treatments (witch hazel and salicylic acid) is as effective as Pro Active, which is rather expensive.

As some others said medications like ABX or steroids that you may be on can affects your skin, so you may want to investigate that as well.

A couple things I've learned with having bad acne
- make sure you wash your face after you've washed your hair/conditioned...those hair products are great for your hair but bad for your face!
- cetaphil facewash has been a Godsend. You can get it anywhere (its tan with green and blue label). they also have a bar of soap for the shower which is awesome.
- wash when you get up and before you go to bed
- have you tried benzoclin? it's a simple cream but its worked great for me. i'm also on BC for my acne.

hopefully this helps and its not soomething you've heard before!

Thanks for the replies. Yes, all my skincare is gentle cleanser, moisturizer etc. I use seperate towel to dry face and wash face is the last thing I do in shower b/c of shampoo stuff is not good on face although I make sure none gets on it when I wash.

I decided to stop the topical antibiotic and stay with the Doxycyclin for one more week or until my supply is out. I am also looking into the Regimen described on www.acne.org and also have talked with the estitician at my derms office and she is gonna suggest somethings maybe I can do without pills. If all else fails I might start birth control at least for a little while.

Thanks for replies and I am open to more suggestions and experiences with products.
