Those who have GHPP

Is it strictly the state, or do they get money from CFF or anyone else?

I'm so friggin pissed at them.
They are worse than DMV workers with the amount of heart they have.
It just baffels my mind that these people can sleep at night - being in the "health care industry" but not caring one friggin bit about a patient getting their meds ON TIME or about the stress they put them through in the mean time.
They make GDF'n excuses for everything!

I'm grateful they pay for what I need, however, it only causes me undue stress to be hassled by their b.s.

I think they are funded strictly through the State's General Fund. And like any government program, unfortunately, the bureaucracy often clouds the true intent of the program. I agree with you about the attitudes of 'case workers' at GHPP - I'm not sure why they are so blase about everything, and I know it's frustrating to have to wait for pre-approval for things we need. I kind of think their hands are tied and even if they wanted to expedite things, I'm not sure they have much control to do so. As a State worker myself, I often feel frustrated by my inability to get things done - so many rules and hoops to jump through *sigh*

I feel your anger, Sally - the only thing I can do is remind myself how lucky I am that we even HAVE GHPP here, because many States either do not offer programs like this or their programs are inferior by far. I hate that it sometimes takes what feels like forever to get the meds I need, but the bottom line is, I always get what I need eventually. Sounds like you're feeling the same way: frustrated, but at least glad that GHPP is an option.

Hang in there *hugs*

Yessssss. Any gov't funded program is going to be partial or whole mess. GHPP, for the short time I was on it, seemed only partial mess.

I understand your stress. When I moved to another state the state worker put my paper work at the bottom of a stack on her desk and I didn't have active health insurance for close to three months because she simply forgot to do it. I spent over an hour on the phone with customer service every day for that time begging them to activate my account (I was already eligible and approved!) having to explain through tears virtually every time that I take life sustaining medications that I couldn't afford to purchase out of pocket and wait to be reimbursed for.

It is hard to deal with the heartlessness first hand. While it may be a terrible job for the people doing it, there are lives depending on it-- ours!

Wheezie is right though, no matter how flawed their system might be, GHPP is an INCREDIBLE program and many many many states do not have anything similar. I have Medicaid where I live now and my co-pays each month are often more than my disability. When I was on Medi-Cal and GHPP, GHPP ensured I never had unreasonable co-pay and I was never once denied a medication I needed although it did sometimes take a while to be approved for it.

Sounds like we've all dealt with GHPP's awful customer service at some point. I often think of how they are a great program and have covered a lot of stuff for me, but what drives me crazy is when you talk to them on the phone, you can hear the impatience and disinterest in their voices. They truly don't understand. Last year I had to remind them to send my paperwork to me so I could renew, and if I hadn't my account surely would have been cancelled. Sorry you're going thru this Sally!
