Well I would be overjoyed if I was wrong.... trust me. I hate my shots as well!

I'm so glad to hear that you're going to a great doc. That's wonderful.

Keep me posted on what you find out.

Hey Amy-
They haven't called me back yet, but you can look up sublingual immunotherapy in pub-med and there are literally hundreds of studies on it....

Looks like WHO recommends its use to treat allergy....
I just read an article that suggested it is not widley used here because it is considered off-label and the FDA hasn't approved it. So, insurance won't pay for it.

What do you think??

Well, I don't necessarily shy away from off-label. If the science is there, the science is there.

But I'm not loaded (I'm actually applying for grad loans right now as we speak) so paying cash is out of the question for me. Maybe after i graudate

Let me look into it more. I wonder why the FDA hasn't approved it (just out of curiosity)

My allergist said that they were working on getting it approved (mine's not world famous- sorry! lol ) here, that they were using it in Europe, and that there were only a few on track to be approved, but hopefully will be more (this was last fall). I was really excited too! Until she told me she doesn't know how helpful they will be for my allergies yet...feathers, mold, and goldenrod (apparently, shots for these aren't as effective as for things like animal allergies, etc. . I'm waiting to see...

I'm so glad you got them! I'd be really interested to see how they work for you!
