TOBI...

Do you guys lose your voice every time you're on TOBI?

I work in a sales/customer service position...I'm on the phone and face to face with customers and corporate accounts all day, and it's awful every other month when I'm on TOBI and have no voice. I can tell my manager is somewhat annoyed as well.

Any ideas/tips on how to keep from losing my voice every time I'm on TOBI?

I've tried drinking carbonated beverage immediately after, warm tea afterwards, sucking on mints all day, etc. Nothing seems to help... *shrugs*

Sorry Debra, I have no advice! I just wanted to say it does it to me every time as well. It really does interfere with daily life as you said. I worked in an elementary school and it's pretty difficult when the kids can't even hear you! Sometimes I think I might as well stay home when starting TOBI, it's that bad!! I asked my dr. about it, hoping he would have a suggestion, but no such luck. He actually said it was the first time he had heard of this being a big problem!!

I have tried everything you mentioned. I think the hot tea does seem to help a bit. I always drink it shortly after the TOBI.

Thanks for posting this!! I hope someone knows something we don't!!

I tried tobi only once for about 10 days and had no voice for about 5 weeks. The doctor told me that my cords were swollen, but noone could tell me how to get better...I was just told not to speak and especially not to whisper because thats extremly bad for the cords...
After 5 weeks another doctor (whom I visited because of different things ) said:"If your cords are swollen, why don´t you try Voltaren (Diclofenac) tablets (anti swelling)?" I did (only one tablet a day) and immediately noticed that it got better. Maybe you could try that, but I´m not shure if it helps as long as you still are on tobi...

My boy likes to eat popsicles before, during, and after Tobi or colistin to soothe his throat. Cold stuff usually is better if it is swelling behind the problem.
