If you have the 104, then you're good to go my friend. You can call HillRom and ask them the engineering behind it as to why it works overseas (I know science... I don't know engineering). But I used it in Paris in April 2007 and Austria in January 2006 and both times it worked 100%.

I got the euro pari compressor (I didn't buy the nebs over there... i brought them from home) at an austrian pharmacy. but you can easily go to pari.com and look up a distributor. they're called "PARI BOY" over there. I actually ended up getting one in Japan too when i went a few months ago <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I have all 3 major continents covered now <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">

In terms of chest PT - as CFers we are more vulnerable to getting sick while traveling anyway, so going to 2nd class treatment (chest PT vs. the Vest) doesn't help the situation. So I agree with you 100%.

But it looks like you're in luck - the 104 will do you just fine in France <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

thanks for the tips amy and i will also be getting the compressor..
shows u that u can live yur life and travel (heck even w a baby on my hip to tote!<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">) and maintain compliance.

hey anymore traveling w cf tips anyone has out there are welcome.


on a side note, i am looking into a portable air cleansing device for the plane. i can't remember the name of the co-its written downstairs somewhere. but its a device u wear around your neck that helps to clean the air you inhale.

other than that, i bring clorox wipes w me everywhere i go-and wipe my area of the seat. i never take ice in my drink (i have a friend who is a flight attendant....)load up on water and airborne and i'm good to go.

another great thing about where i am going in france is that whole city (Nice) is now smoke free. been there 2x before-first time it was smoky and had to watch where i went (like most place which u just deal with). last time it was AWESOME! it really makes a big diff

In the course of 24 hours I had no less than two compressors AND a hairdryer "explode" (okay, to be fair the hairdryer just started smoking, but one of the compressors literally blew sparks out of its plug). So for the first few days at Oxford I was the coughy kid with bad hair. Awesome.

When I was in Italy and the machine blew, sparks flew, the vest was smoking.. my mom took apart the fuse box and went searching for new fuses. We found them, but it was internal, not so much the fuses.

The Vest Co. told me that if by chance the fuses blow on the new model they gave me, you can reset the machine. Look into that on your 104 model, maybe you can reset the fuses in case, it blows. or brign extra fuses from the states.

When I called the Vest co, when it happened, the tech asked if I had an acapella or a flutter as a "back up". I said, "No, when I called all 3 times your co re-assured me I did'nt need a back up..."
He tells me, "Sweetie, you have Cystic Fibrosis, you should know by now, you always need a backup." Thanks for the advice guy!

He also told me, when I asked what do other CF'ers do when they travel abroad? He says, "They don't."... So<i> No other </i>CF'er has gone to Europe with a Vest? He says.. "Not that I know of..."

Apparently they hire anyone off the streets!!

Thought I would share!
