Traveling by airplane with the vest

Hey everyone! I just got the vest in January (the InCourage system) & would like to take it with me when I travel in a few weeks.
My question is, how do I do this? Do most people check it with luggage? I am afraid it will not be handled with care.
Or do I carry it on the plane, yet it is quite heavy.
Any suggetions are greatly appreciated!

Take it as a carry-on. Don't check it. Read an article last year about someone who checked it and their luggage got lost.

Medical equipment is not to be counted toward your "carry-on" allotment.

We have, in the past, taken it as a carry on. We had no problems at all. But, for the last few years, we have just brought my girls Acapellas instead and used them as well as manual CPT. The thing is just too heavy and a pain to deal with not to mention that my girls like a little change in the program<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Yep, take it as carryon- if it won't fit in the overhead, they will stow it up front with the stewards <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> . I have a set of luggage wheels for my Vest system, because it is too heavy for me to lug all over the airport. They do make you take it off the wheels to go through the security machine. My "wheels":

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.target.com/Black-Folding-Multi-Use-Cart/dp/B000BO8W50/qid=1213114146/ref=br_1_12/601-8051273-9741721?ie=UTF8&node=1042210&frombrowse=1&rh=&page=1">luggage cart</a>

And someone I was talking to yesterday/today got this one (I think this is it) to put the vest <i>and</i> the luggage on for the airport:

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.target.com/Flat-Folding-Multi-Use-Cart-Black/dp/B000BOACEO/qid=1213114229/ref=br_1_3/601-8051273-9741721?ie=UTF8&node=1042210&frombrowse=1&rh=&page=1">larger cart</a>

When they ask, I tell them it is a medical compressor- they will more than likely open it and use the "sniff" wand on it. If they are treating it kinda roughly, don't be afraid to tell them how much it cost <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> . Have fun <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> !
