i have flown from fl to hawaii before. i don't recall having an issue with all of my stuff staying cool.

Traveling by plane with medication?

We use the polarpac icepacks that came in the mail with DS' tobi. They last forever. We've left early morning with a lunchbag cooler containing meds and reached our destination that evening to find the icepack was still frozen. So if you can get the "good" icepacks, they work great; however, I've also travelled by car and used frozen juice bags/boxes.
I don't take an entire box of tobi or pulmozyme, just enough for the week, plus extras and stick the label on the outside of the foil packets. Cooler is a softsided lunch bag that fits easily in a backpack or messenger bag along with another baggy containing pills, nebulizer & neb cups.

We have traveled from the US to Australia with not only the custom CF meds but also Transplant meds, which can be up to 20 or so different meds. TOBI, Pulmozyme and Insulin. We use a soft sided little cooler or a child's lunch box with a ice pack. Depending on the number of days we'll be gone plus a few extra days, just in case. I put the ice pack in a ziploc bag and take a couple extra in case I need to ask the stewardess for ice. Always carry it on board. We have never had trouble with security. I use a soft side cooler so I can pack it in the suitcase on the return trip. On our trip to Australia I took both a cooler and a lunch bag cooler so I could use it for the extra meds I took for "just in case". I too remove the meds from the box and cut out the prescription label and tape it to the inside lid of the cooler or put it in the front pocket of the lunch bag. FYI: Dry Ice is not allowed onboard any commercial flights checked or carry on. Have great visit!

neither is the vest counted towards your carry on. don't let them check the vest!!! i was told this last time i flew when i was boarding that they were going to check my vest on spot cause they were short on room on the flight and i looked at the lady and said well i have i problem with that because this is a 15 thousand dollar medical device. she then looked at me and said oh well i'm sure they can make room for it then. you don't want them to check it cause if they break it they aren't responsible for replacing it.

I've flown internationally and I never keep those things cool on the flight. You have a 24 hour window when it comes to being out of the refrigerator or whatever.

I have traveled in the us and outside. For drugs that need refrigeration I just put the ampules wrapped in tinfoil in a sandwich plastic baggies along with an icepack and it stays cold and easy to transport. I also carry a letter from doc about my cf and drugs I carry, yet I have NEVER had to show it. Seems the TSA has more problems with my compressor and they never question my drugs. Good luck. It is all easy to do!<br>
