Always put your nebs and meds in your carry on because if the luggage gets lost you are SOL.

Yes. Yes yes yes. I've had my luggage lost once, for about 24 hours (and I was in Spain, mind you, so it's not like I could go to the Rite Aid down the street). And if I hadn't had all my medical stuff in my carry-on, I would've been frigged up the arse.
They cannot and will not count medical anything as carry-on material. It's not a choice. I bring on a bag for meds, a bag for my compressor, and a cooler with my Pulmozyme in it. On top of that I bring my purse and usually a small carry-on bag. Your medical bags do NOT count towards your carry-on. You are allowed the same amount of carry-on as everyone else, not including the medical stuff. If you have needles or anything like that, I suggest a letter from your doctor. Otherwise, you're good to go. You may have to explain to people, but that's okay.
This past time I flew for a wedding, I had rubbing alcohol in my carry on and the people at Ohare did NOT like it (with the new liquid rules). They asked why I didn't just use alcohol wipes. I told them I had to soak the aerosol head in alcohol (and showed the aerosol head to them so they could see) and they got an okay from the higher ups and I was allowed to go. Basically, take some extra patience with you, be prepared to explain, but always bring that stuff as carry on. Do not let them talk you into checking anything. They can't force you to, and you will be possibly screwing yourself.
