I flew Delta earlier this year & I had no problems. I had a letter from the doctor outlining Max's diagnosis & made sure the RX labels were on the medication. In addition, the medical equipment (which included his vest & another bag w/his meds & vest accessories) did not count toward my carry-on allowance. I was hesitant to check anything related to his care for fear of damage or loss. I also used one of the "pulmozyme" ice packs to keep it chilled & it worked wonderfully. It would probably be a good idea to check your airlines website to see if they have any specific suggestions about what they need to make it a smooth process. Also, make sure you take the vest out of the carrier because they always asked me to take it out. The last time I flew the airport guy told me to always take it out so they can see it.

Thanks everyone! I did call the doc and they're sending a list of meds. I'm worried about taking the vest... think we might go back to the hand percussions (SP?) for the few days we'll be gone. My MIL sent a link showing a small case often used to keep insulin cold while traveling. HAs anyone ever heard of/used something like this?

I used to have a small case for insulin that I used for our diabetic dog. Had a spot for insulin bottles and syringes. A small cooler and icepacks from the pharmacy would probably work better.

I use an insulated bag with a built in thermostat. It's great because you can keep an eye on the temperature inside the bag during the whole trip. I've used it for pulmozyme and tobi. you can find it at this website:

Just fyi for your peace of mind-if you have the newer vest model that comes with the rolling carry case-do not be afraid to take it with you! Its made for that. I have taken my vest literally all over the world on countless planes and its always worked out great. If you don't want another thing to lug, I get it totally. Just think about having to sit and do manual pt too though-on vaca...thats also a drag (speaking from experience and many arguments with my husband!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> ) Just food for thought.
