Traveling with VEST

Hi! We just got back Wednesday from a visit to California from Cleveland. We had my son's VEST and meds carried on with us along with a Dr. note. We flew Continental and no one gave us any trouble. On the way home, security did take it out of the rolling suitcase and give it a good looking over - heehee. I was not afraid to tell them to handle it with care - if they only knew the investment! We did not leave it at the gate. It came on the airplane with us and fit in the overhead compartment. We had it with us at all times. We even did a VEST session during a layover in Houston! I hope you decide to go. CF and all its up-keep should never stop anyone from living life if you can help it! Have a great trip!

We've traveled with the VEST. We brought it as a carry on in the duffel bag it came in. My husband carried it over his shoulder. You are allowed to bring on medical equipment as carryon. Our CF doc wrote us a letter just in case. I would NOT check the VEST(way too expensive). We just tucked the VEST under our feet in the plane. Really no big deal. Also, if the duffel bag is worn out call the VEST company, they will ship you a new one, no charge.

I asked the respertech vest trainer about this - she said to have a prescription note from the Dr and put it in with the vest. If you call the airline ahead of time and tell them you need to bring medical equipment on as a carry on there is a closet behind the pilot that they will put it in for you. Our vest carrier is much too big for the overhead bins.
