Travis (my brother) Going In

I hope all goes well. Tell him to take precautions (masks, wash hands after re-entering room, etc).
He will be in good hands and hopefully he'll come out feeling wonderful!
You are a good sister!
Just tell him to take things to keep him busy (books, magazines, lap top, phone, etc.). The worst part for me is just making the time pass. I sleep more while I'm in the hospital but I get pretty bored. That is usually a sign that I am feeling better when I start thinking of all the things I 'could' be doing.
Good luck to your brother. I find your concern for him endearing!

We will be praying that this is a short stay, and is just a tune-up, as I guess it's called. I will repeat what has already been said, it is really important that you and your brother wash your hands a lot while he's in the hospital. Make sure he has people wash their hands when they come in to touch him. I don't want to scare you about the germs in a hospital, but YOU CAN'T BE TOO CAREFUL! This can be a good thing if he emerges so much healthier. We will be thinking of you, please keep us informed.

Like the others have said since this is the first time it may be a little 'scarry' but that's just because it's new, but realize that Travis is incredible lucky too in that he hasn't been to the hospital yet! That's a big achievement! You'll get through this, we are here for you, keep us updated.

I hope Travis will be feeling better ASAP. Like everyone said, tell him to be careful about people washing their hands, i usually wipe everything down when i first get into the room.... You should also be very careful when you go to visit him.. I hope the time goes quickly and he comes out feeling stronger than ever..Stay well.. Joni 55 y/o f w c/f

the doc said his lung functions are in the low 50s and his are usually in the 80s and 90s. he also lost weight and they want him to gain 10 lbs in 10 days. i really don't know if he can do that.

It will all work itself out. I was in the hosp. in december and my PFT's are typically in the 80's as well. I spiked down to 60 in december and was put in then. My doc saw those numbers and basically said when can you come in? Yes it is scary when there is such urgency, but those doctors do know what they are doing. They've done it before. So when I went in, I had also lost weight (5 lbs or so). Well needless to say, I was able to bounce right back. My PFT's are now at thier highest they have been in like 6 years (89 %) and my weight is higher than it was before my cleanout. It may take time for your brother, but if he works at it, it will happen. I will be thinking of you! Good luck to your brother!
