Trouble spots in your lungs

When you're laying down at night, do you guys have one side or the other act up and make you cough when you roll over?

I find that when I lay on my right side, that that works best for not coughing - most of the time. Then sometimes when I roll over to my left side, it will trigger coughing fits immediately. I can usually feel it coming on a few seconds before they start so sometimes if I turn back over quickly enough, I can make it just before the fit actually starts and not have one. Other times it lessens the fit, but I'll still cough. Point is that I have one side that works better for sleeping and not coughing after everything has pooled during the night.

Does anyone else have these special sides while sleeping?

Makes me think since my left upper lobes are the most messed up for me, that maybe that's what it's about. If I turn to my left side I'll start to cough more b/c when all the mucus flows over there, it's too messed up to deal with it all. My right side is better lung wise which makes less coughing possible. Does that make sense?

Just trying to figure this out...

I just had that last night actually. I barely coughed in the evening then the second I laid down - COUGHCOUGHlkajfladasldkjf for an hour. Sometimes when I sit right back up it will stop it, but sometimes it does seem to favor a certain side (my left side is junky). Sometimes I feel it's almost like doing an extra treatment... all I do is lay down and cough til it's out of my system then I can sleep. It sucks when you just want to sleep though!

If you just want to avoid the coughing altogether, sometimes the old stand-by of propping yourself up with pillows can help.

Yeah. Somtimes I breath better sleeping on one side over the other. Also, sometimes one side will ache so I'll sleep on the other.

i have experienced this too. sometimes it's my left side, sometimes it's my right side. i have found lately that i just sleep better on my left side i think it's cause the baby likes to hand out on the left side. it may sound werid that it varies for me which side is better. i have also figured out certain ways to breath to help stop or lessen a coughing fit. but sometimes you just can't help it ya know? just gotta go with the flow. but it stil sucks of course!
