I am finally getting a tubal ligation done on May 8th(the day b4my birthday...) I'm getting it done as I am tired of paying for birth control that doesn't seem to work right, period comes and goes whenever it feels like. I am almost 39 and have thought about this for the past 3 yrs. It's what I want. With beeing on NO b/c my peiods were still outta woack (every 21 -38 days) I know with having CF periods are outta wack anyways. But my question is....has any woman out there who has had a tubal have their periods been normal or somewhat normal and if NOT what did you or can be done to help keep/make them normal?

I had a tubal ligation 2 years ago...my periods are longer than they used to be; but are now very regular. Its different for everyone from what I remember my doc telling me. I had mine knowing it was the best for me, I still cried for days. And I bled for days too...it was not fun.

I wish you the best of luck with getting this done!

This topic fascinates me. I will get mine if/when I get married.

Please keep us posted on how it goes. This information is very valuable to those of us who are considering the procedure. Thank you!

A tubal ligation most likely won't give you any regularity. It is not a procedure that deals with your ovaries, so everything still cycles the same as before. I had a tubal after my daughter w/CF was born (though it was planned long before we knew about the CF). I was always very regular, and now I'm a lot less so. But I don't think it has anything to do with the tubal, I think I'm just getting OLD <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0"> and my body is changing!!

I had a tubal 4 months after having my daughter, because I believe one child is more than enough for me. My periods were pretty regular before so since I haven't much change, well aside from it having gone from 5-6 days to 3 days max ... always within a few days of when I started the month before. So ya regular .. not sure if getting my tubes tied had anything to do with it though.

I had my tubes tied and regret every minutes of it. I had a period for 18 months after having it done. I had just had my second daughter when they did it. I kept going to the doctor and they kept telling oh it was just hormone, at the year mark after having Hanna, I said when is this going to stop. They replied "This happens alot after having a tubal", call us in three months if it doesn't stop. Three months later called, they did a pelvic and could feel nothing, call us in three more months if it doesn't stop. Two months later I went to CF doc was horrible anemic and very sick with a lung infection, which he says is due to my hemoglobin being so low for so long, he stepped in and said something will be done and done soon. Sent me to another doc the next week I had an ablation of the uterus which also will prevent pregnancy. Sorry to ramble but just wanted to let you know what HE** I went through before you make the final decision.
