Tune Up

So I am headed into the "joint" for a tune up on Tuesday and EVERY single time a go in ( I go in once a year), I get fevers and start throwing up right after the first infusion. It is so hard to deal with and I feel like absolute ^%&! My doc says it is the bacteria dying off and then it is released into the bloodstream which can cause those sypmtoms. But I think I might be slightly allergic cause it happens right after the first infusion so how could the bacteria die that fast? Or can it? Any ideas on how to provide comfort for myself? I am going to do benadryl and motrin before each infusion. The benadryl the doc said helps with any allergic reactions you can have from a med. I also have some accupuncture wrist bands that put pressure on a point in your wrist that helps with nausea.
Any other great ideas?

Is zofran an option? Guess I'm not sure in what situations it's used, but DS was given in his IV when he had a bowel obstruction -- they didn't want him hurling with his ng tube. He was also on a number of IV abx at the time as well.

I usually run low grade fevers, but this time I had the migraine & nauciousness/vomiting with it.

I was put on Zofran & continuous IV fluids since we werent sure what was causing it....dehydration, meds or high CO2.

When I got home I did my first doses of Meropenem I instantly had the problems. No Zofran was prescribed, but they discontinued the Mero since I already had 3 weeks on it.

I would ask for Zofran & see if that helps. I had it about 30 minutes before each dose of Mero. No problems with the other meds.

Hope you feel better soon!
