Hi Cathy,

I'm glad Brian is home !! I hope the drs figure out a good mix of abx to kick his bugs..

One question? Did the drs tell you that it takes about 6 wks for the results for Myco? I know they can do a quick smear but the actual test takes much longer..

My son Tristin also has mrsa. He has been on bactrim for awhile, but it no longer seems to be working well. Now he usually gets zyvox. This usually seems to get the job done. Hopefully Brian is well now and you won't have to worry about it.

We are doing well.. Brian is off the iv now and back to our routine treatment schedule. He went back to school yesterday. He is continuing to gain weight :) which is one of the reasons he was admitted.

Joni-I was told that the myco culture takes a few more weeks that his routine culture...his was negative for myco but I was also told that it can be a difficult bacteria to capture.

And since he responded to the iv therapy, a bronchoscopy was not done.

Thanks to all for your kind thoughts.
