Ultrase MT 20 enzymes

Also, your doc cannot write a new script for Ultrase as of April 28, 2010, but I bet your pharmacy could trade out with another pharmacy or transfer the "old script." Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I guess using the CF pharmacy is out! LOL. My son's doctor told me that Ultrase would most likely still get approval, but the name might change. That would be why everyone would need a new script. She thought it would happen soon so she gave us 3 weeks of samples but that is coming close to an end <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">. I guess it wouldn't really hurt to try a different brand until Ultrase gets it worked out. It is definitely better than worrying about not having them! We all know how that can be!! Best wishes to you all!!

Marty'smom~ if you still have refills left on his most recent script, I'd still check all your local pharmacies to see if anyone has any remaining in their stock. There is a chance that someone may still have some that you can get. It's true that no one can write NEW scripts for the enzymes that do not have approval, but you can get them refilled until the stock is depleted.

I've used Creon, Ultrase, and Pancreaze.

For me, they all worked about the same. I wouldn't stress this issue.

My son has tried just about every enzyme there is and none have worked...but Ultrase has worked the best...atleast no explosive diapers <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I went at the end of last month to fill his perscription for Ultrase and they told me they had enough on the shelf to last him a few month but then found out since he is on state insurance we can not fill the perscription anymore until they are fda approved! So if Ultrase does not get fda approved in another month or so we are going to have to change enzymes! And we just now made it to the 50th percentile for his weight!

Yeah, many people have had difficulty finding an enzyme that works well... they aren't 'interchangeable'.

Lyndsi, I'm so sorry to hear that your pharmacy HAS the enzymes, but Cameron's insurance won't pay for them. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> How incredibly frustrating.

Hi all! I think I wasn't making it clear before. It isn't that the docs need to write a new script now. I know they can't while the enzymes aren't approved. I called my son's doctor and she told me that Ultrase will be approved soon!! YAY! The only thing is that they might have a differnt number next to the MT. Instead of MT20 it might be MT23 or something. Not sure just guessing. The same thing happened to Creon when it got FDA approval. The reason was there was more lipase in it then originally thought. So once it does get approval, then the docs need to write new scripts. I hope that info helps. Ultrase has been fantastic for my little boy! Hopefully they will get approved soon so it isn't an issue anymore. Best wishes to you all!!

Yeah~ when I was posting, it was with suggestions for how you could get more of the existing (old formula) Ultrase to hold you over when your samples run out until the new (renamed, fda-approved) ones are available. I'm glad you got confirmation that they ARE coming soon... and I hope you are able to find more to last until that happens without having to use another brand for a while.
