Update On Me

Hi again, everyone. For those who read my previous post and were concerned about me (which I'm deeply touched by), I got my x-ray results. Apparently the doc says everything looks pretty normal for me, except for a lot of congestion on my right side---same side as where the pain has been. I still think I may have bruised a rib with all the coughing, which of course wouldn't show on an x-ray, but I'm glad its nothing more serious like a partial lung collapse. That was my biggest fear! So I suppose I'll just up the CPT and see if I can shake something loose. I didn't think a mucus plug could cause this much trouble by itself, but I guess I could be wrong! The pain has actually eased a bit today, and I can lie on that side again without too much discomfort.

Is there anything else anyone could recommend besides HS and CPT that might help me clear things out? I'm doing both of those, of course, but just in case there's something I haven't thought of...

Thanks again, guys!

Lisa, I'm glad to hear it's not pneumonia, or a cracked rib, and that the pain is a little better today. I was wondering how you were. I hope you can get some rest tonight, and that it feels a lot better tomorrow! <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">

Im glad to hear that everything is ok and its nothing too serious. Maybe you can try taking robitussin cf or mucinex. It helps me get stuff out too. Just a thought.

That's right...duh!--Cracked rib would show on an X-ray, but not a bruised one!
I know what CPT is, but not familiar with what HS is...but other than maybe hanging upside-down while watching a movie, or running a marathon, can't think of much else, other than maybe deep-breathing excercises.
I always found the best kind of CPT was getting thrown hard on the tatami mats, though!
But, glad to hear the pain is going away, and the problem was found as to why the soreness and discomfort.
(Personally, I think their speed on X-ray results is slow! doesn't take long to develop the film, so probably the hard part was having the specialist take the time to look at the film!?)

Terri, Khristina, and Fred, thanks for the well-wishes!

Khristina, I actually do still have some Mucinex left in the closet. Thanks for reminding me! I'll give that a shot.

Fred, just so you know, HS = hypertonic saline, basically sterilized salt water. As far as your version of CPT, maybe I'll get Rick to throw me on the couch a few times. Might not be as effective as a tatami mat, but I'm sure it'll knock something loose! LOL!!

And yeah, I called my doc this morning at 8 and they already had the films. I didn't get a response from him though until about 2 P.M. They sure seem to take their time, don't they?!

Massage therapy is great. IF you cant get it done by a PT or a professional then have someone run between the ribs in the area where it bothers you. I get a lot up when my hubby does this. It doesnt have to be super hard. Just enough to push the stuff along. It works best right after a treatment when everything is moistened & shaken up. Good Luck & I am glad its not cracked, but bruising hurts like hell too.

Thanks for the suggestion, Melissa. I'll try that, too. I probably can't get a professional to do it, but Rick is actually really good at massage therapy. I'll have him give it a shot!
