URGENT saline rinse question

I am traveling for 2 days for my clinical trial check in and am on day 2 of a cold. I usually skip saline rinses when I travel for sanitation reasons. I don't want to skip now that I'm sick. How do you all do it when you travel. I only use sterile water (as opposed to tap) so I'm interested in suggestions along these lines.

My ideas are so far...

Call the hospital pharmacy that is near the hotel and get sterile water.

Call the hotel and get a microwave delivered to my room so I can boil sterile water in there.

What do you do?

Thanks!!

Hi LouLou:
I wonder if anyone uses the steripen. I think we ran an article about it in Techcf.org.

I wonder if it really sterilizes the water ...and this would be something to travel with

javascript:nicTemp();

I get bottled water each day, and request a microwave in my room. Bring a microwave safe bowl and warm the water. IMO, no need to sterilize or boil the water, as long as its bottled water. However, I get breast pump micro bags and sterilize the neti pot after each use.
On my last family trip I was sick and HAD to flush my nose twice a day. Hubby got me some bottled water and the hotel rooms had microwaves (I actually prefer to flush with cold water). It worked out awesome. I left my neb bottle in the window front or back window of the car to air it out between uses so that the bottle had a chance to dry (we stayed in a different hotel each night).

i use a deep fryer that i bought that walmart to sterilize water on my trips.
As I'm sure you know, just because it is bottled water does NOT mean it's sterile.....it can still contain bacteria and who wants to rinse your sinuses with bacteria?

mine's about a 8 year older version of this, but it still works amazingly well! http://www.walmart.com/ip/Presto-CoolDaddy-Electric-Deep-Fryer/5969527 (i predict this URL won't hyperlink....Ennio please fix)

i also use it to boil nebs (to sterilize).
you can put your nebs and/or meds inside the empty fryer for space-saving while packing.

another blog idea. thanks!

Safe travels and I hope you feel better soon. I can't stand this time of year because of colds Hugs.

What about the saline flushes one uses when doing home Iv's. they come individually wrapped and sterile. I have a bunch leftover that I use in my nose but maybe you can have your doctor call in a script to a homehealth care company that you use and get an order of saline flushes and pack those. I would think that would be SUPER convenient cause they are sterile and individually wrapped. Or at least mine are.... Good Luck
I use the individual saline ampules from nielmed (at the drug store) for my daughter and squirt a few into a netipot when I don't have the resources for making sterile water.
