Oh my goodness, I will scream if it takes two years (and counting for you). I am better today. Just keeping busy. I am so sorry for your wait. My has only been a couple of weeks so far. Ican't imagine your frustration and nerves. Thanks for informing of the swab test. If all of this comes back as maybe again I will request that test. Hope you all had a good weekend.

Shawn has not had a sputum culture yet either and should be on 'my list' to ask for too, I think- especially given how non-invasive and inexpensive it is!

I am glad you are feeling a little better today, Brenda. Which genetic test did Aidan get and when do you expect results? I hope it comes soon!

The only thing I know about it is its a blood test that checks for the most common form of genetic mutations and that will be known in two weeks. If they don't find anything, or only one, they will go on to check the thousands of other genetic mutations and that can take up to 8 weeks. Of course it will be in the 8 week period. I believe if he had a common form we would probably have known before 8 yrs of age. Am I wrong?

Well, CF is a progressive disease, so sometimes symptoms don't show up right away. Siblings who have the same mutations often present much differently from one another. If your child does have CF, knowing the mutations is important, because there are several drugs being developed to target certain mutations. However, there is no way to predict a clinical outcome based on mutations. I hope that makes sense.

Please keep us posted.
