Want to do some remodeling

Hello, Everyone,
There is mold behind the linoleum in our shower stall. My husband just sealed it up with chalk. I am trying to motivate him to remodel quickly! The thing is, he has been told that mold is everywhere and our child will encounter it even just walking outside so not to panic. Can anyone tell me exactly what happens when a child with cf is exposed to mold? I realize it could cause an allergic reaction, inflammation, that type of thing, and that mold is just not good for anyone. I have also noticed that some of the people on this site actually culture mold. Please give me some ammo to use in my arguement that we should get to work on this as soon as possible.
Thanks,
rosesixtyfive, mother of Sam, 5 months, (ddf508), and Robin, 4 years old, no CF

Well I don't know all the ins and outs of what happens as far as reactions...I don't want to know, since I hope it never happens to us -LOL.

But, I've been told - here, other CF sites and from our docs - that mold in the shower is particularly dangerous. The hot humid air in the shower causes the mold spores to hang in the air and then they are able to be breathed in much more easily than in the general environment. I worry about Sam being anywhere near that bathroom after someone bathes or showers.

Hope you get more, better, answers!

You might want to mention the mold issues in your title- you'll probably get more responses <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> .

Here's an article on mold's effect on people. And this is for "normal" people, let alone cfers who are more suseptible to all the problems it causes (in other words, it's bad for ALL of you):

Here is an explanation on mold and alleries in cf:

Definitely get it fixed. We had that problem (before Philip was born). Our white tile had blue spots showing up near the bathtub (there was actually much more mold than we could see). It happened because the caulk was starting to come up and water dripped down after showers. So, I would also be concerned about pseudamonas, not just mold.
