Roger - props to you for catching the nurse's mistake!! There DEFINITELY would have been a confrontation/situation had that happened to me. And then that she denied that it was a big deal!? ugh.
Jenny - your post literally made me laugh out loud; I love the "no, I just picked it up last week" lol <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">
I have never been hospitalized, so I don't have any terrible experiences with those nurses, but I have had some with my clinic nurse; here are some lovely quotes from her:
"I wish I had CF so I wouldn't have to worry about my weight" Um, I'm pretty sure no one wishes they have CF, and actually you would have to worry about your weight, just the opposite of what you do now.
"I understand you've been out of medicine for a week, but I don't have time to call it in today...I'll try to do it tomorrow." UGGH...how useless can you be?? It takes her FOREVER to call in my rx's.
I just filled out an online survey and a comment card venting all of my concerns to my clinic. I definitely agree that you have to be your own advocate for your health; no one cares more about it than you.
