What age did your child begin the vest?

Our son Braden was just over a year old when he got his. At first they told us kids usually get them around three, but as time went on they said he had to be 19" around the chest area. We went to clinic on day and she said let's measure him and he was 19 1/2 so we picked out which vest system we wanted. He does throw fits everynow and again at first but he always falls asleep by time his 20 minutes are up.

Our son was 2 years old, and it's been much easier on the entire house. Thank Goodness for ONDEMAND cartoons! Just wish they bring back Tom and Jerryhehe

Between 8-9 months. I believe they have to have a chest radius of a certain size which he did. He was 95%ile for weight and height so he may have met the size earlier than most.

maggie was 21 months when we got the vest actually. It didn't change her attitude about doing PT but it is a lot easier. Once it is on her, she stops fighting it. And since we found the sesamestreet.org games, she wants to wear the vest. LOL. She says, "do my vest?" Our clinic has a standard 2 years but then a mom with a kid younger than maggie got one because she pushed for it. So when I knew I would be having a second baby a month before maggie turned two, I requested the vest for a few months before she turned two and they were fine with it. sometimes you have to keep pushing. they would tell us that if she fights manual cpt, she will fight the vest. but it's so much better because we don't have to wrestle her like before. good luck!
