What do broken bones feel like?

I vote for an x ray as well.. Hair line fractures don't always swell and with osteopenia I would not mess around.

Heat is good a few days post injury but you should ice a new injury.. In nursing school they talk us the rice formula for new injuries

Rest
Ice
Compression such as ace bandage etc
elevate

Keep your foot above heart level and it will keep it from throbbing...

I pray it feels better fast

I say "Yay" on the X-ray, too!
The X-ray would show whether you have a "crack" in your bone or not.
Also, I had several injuries, though miraculously enough, never any broken bones.
I had a shoulder dislocation when I was about 10, and ligaments to my colar bone torn a few years back, and a ligament in my right knee torn. Except for the knee, all the other ones felt the same as your foot...it didn't hurt so much when it happened, but I couldn't move it after a few hours.

My Knee, I couldn't walk from the time I heard something snap.

You can add to Jenn's rice formula, by adding pudding or ice cream to it. Hope that whatever the outcome, you feel better, soon!

Go an xray! I have had broken fingers before which have hurt less than a sprain. And now I have crooked and sore fingers for the rest of my life

Well my foot feels much, much better now. it still hurts a little, but I have full range of motion now and I can walk on it, albeit with a limp.

I didn't really want to spend the money going to a doctor and getting an x-ray, but I guess I should. In the meantime, I'm still trying to keep off it as much as possible. Thanks, everyone.
