What do you think about the CHRISTmas name change?

I know. Its because a few athiest (which is NOT a religion and the constitution say freedom OF religion so I think they should pick one) Decided they don't like god and instead of sucking it up they want to be diffucult and annoy the rest of us.... contrary to how it sounds I am trying not to offend anyone.

Okay, jbrandonAW...first off, I agree with you so far as Chrismas should not be changed. HOWEVER, I'm an athiest (agnostic, actually, but some people count them as one and the same) and I take offence to the fact that I should "pick one". I HAVE chosen, it just isn't the mainstream! Don't count all athiests as useless twits. A few bad apples does not make the entire bushel sour! Not that you were trying to offend, just FYI.<br>
</br>Anyway, with that thought of the way since it bothered me...I do celebrate Christmas even though I don't believe in Christ. I enjoy the spirit of the holiday, being with family, the lights, the music, etc. because that's how I was raised. That being said, the government should have no say in what the majority decides to call their holiday! How stupid! I'm so tired of all this PC crap! Do you happen to know what it is they want to change the name to? Just out of curiosity of their ignorance...

All I can say, is ditto to what Lilith said. I'm Agnostic, but still celebrate Christmas. I enjoy the family time, the spirit of Christmas, the lights, music, good will to others, etc. And I really don't think that the government should have a say in what people want to call the Holidays. Call it whatever you will.

I'm with Lisa. Athiest, but not a bad apple. I also celebrate Christmas, but for the same reasons Lisa said. I celebrate secular Christmas. Family, gift-giving, food, closeness, all that stuff. I love that. That's what I celebrate.
By the by... if any of the "regular" religions are religions (monotheism, polytheism, whatever they may be), then so is athiesm. Religion is defined as:
<i>a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe</i>
My belief is that no god created or caused the universe. In which case thats my set of beliefs regarding such... i.e. athiesm = religion.

Why are we as Americans such idiots ! Things have been the same for 100's of years and now all of a sudden they want to change all this stuff to make everyone else happy in spite of ourselves. Everyone should celebrate what they believe in and let well enough alone. First they want to change our money to take away "In God we Trust", then they took away religion in schools, took away the big statue in front of some Judicial building because it had the ten commandments on it or something like that? WHO MAKES THESE RIDICULOUS DECISIONS just because someone complains that where they are from they dont do that .... That would be so easily settled if they brought that gripe to me, id tell them to GO BACK !! This changing things that have been the same for generation after generation are what makes the USA start to fall apart in my opinion. For some reason we dont seem to have any say anymore as US citizens against non citizens or new citizens who just came here. uggggggggggggggggggggggggg
