In my home, we use Clorox Anywhere Hard Surface Cleaner. It can be used on all household items including toys. We buy it in Target or Walmart.

If your kids have a lot of toys like mine do, I separate them all into 3 piles: Those that can be soaked (Legos, Cars, etc) Those that can be washed (Stuffed Animals) and Those that need to be hand washed/wiped down (Books, etc). Then, I fill the bathtub with scalding hot water and a mixture of bleach, and dump his toys that can be soaked in there, and get the wash going at the same time, and while those are soaking/washing, I work on the toys that have to be done by hand. Then I go and bleach down his room, and toys bins, and any furniture that can be wiped down. Then I close the door, and open both his windows with a fan going, to get the smell out. It takes about an hour from the very start, to the last toy dried off. It seems time consuming, but it's actually not, since you can kinda work at your own pace, and it depends on the amount of toys you have. It works soo well though <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Afterward, Matt will spend hours in his room with his clean toys. (I think it's comparable to new toys for him lol)

Good luck finding what works for you!

Sanitize? Clean? I usually use the clorox wipes or clorox surface spray. One thing to consider is bath toys. DS kept getting rubber ducks and water toys that squirted and I usually wasn't too keen about him using those due to the tendency to trap water and get moldy/mildew. Target had some ducks that didn't have holes in them, so we had a huge "fleet" of those.

I use clorox wipes for the bathroom and kitchen area...but toys - I use vinegar and warm water. Its totally safe and disenfects. I use a little over 1/3 vinager and 2/3 water.

Also you can buy a mess bag, and for certain things you can wash them in the dishwasher. As for stuff Animals...I would get rid of what you can...and make it to a small amount you can toss in the washer each week (though you could spray them down with vinegar and wipe them as well -or clorox them)

I NEVER use bleach b/c it kills my lungs (and I don't want my daughter putting it in her mouth)

(the smells goes away when it drys BUT try adding a dash of lemon/lime juice for a nice smell)

(i did some reading and I think you might need to up the amount of vinegar, but search and find a solution that works for you)
