what form of oregano oil to use

I am very curious about Oregano Oil. I found some in capsule form, some as an oil.
What are people using, what strength and how are they taking it?
I see alot of you are nebing it and this makes me a little nervous as I had an Asthma attack last summer that put me on a vent after using Mucomyst. I have very "reactive airways" as my doc says.
I also want to know if this stuff really works! The last postings were almost a year ago and I know how things can change with us CF'ers.

I need to find something that kicks Pseudomonas in the butt and keeps my sputum thinned out.

If you're in the US, there is no guarentee what you're buying is what the bottle claims it is. Supplements are not regulated in the US, so it could contain absolutely no OO at all for all we know...

something to keep in mind.

Then I wouldn't recommend inhaling OO. Especially w/ sensitive airways. Not that it can't work, but to my knowledge it only worked well for one person on this board.

Hi.
I do NOT inhale OO, but I do use it as an anti-inflammatory in my daily regime. The best brand is North American Herb and Spice...many of the places using OO are using this brand as it is the most pure.

I, too, have reactive airway disease....don't even think about inhaling it.

It has been a lifesaver for my sinuses, though....I rarely get infections and I attribute a lot of my success to this.

I would recommend encapsulated oregano oil that you can take before meals.

For one thing, I had found with the type of 'oregano oil supplement' that the wife bought, if I didn't take it with meals, I would be burping the oregano flavor all day (yuck!isgust
I had read it somewhere, and I think I posted it somewhere on this forum when I had offered the information I found in regards to the different types of Oregano Oil (Yes, there are more than one 'Oregano Oils').
The timing in taking the oregano oil is that it passes through the stomach and is digested in the intestines to be properly absorbed. If it starts in the stomach, that's where it tastes like you had an Oregano Spaghetti for breakfast and can't get rid of the flavor for most the day.
I'm personally not in need of inhaling the oregano oil, nor will support any claims made about it's use. For one thing, it's still under research in my opinion.

P.S. The U.S. is not the only place to guarantee what the bottle claims it to be. However, the FDA does not moderate the supplements, or 'Over-the-counter' for all I know, so it's 'buyer beware'.
