What hurts the most ??

I would agree with Lindsey that the most painful part was having my chest tubes pulled. The pain only lasts long enough to yell something out and then its gone. Then you feel relieved!

However, I did have an experience where they had problems adjusting my pain meds when they started lowering them and that caused a ton of pain for me. I really thought I was going to die that night. I have not met another tx patient who said they had experienced pain like mine that night, but even after going through that, and knowing it might be worse or happen again....I would do it over in a heart beat!

Getting the chest tubes pulled was the part that hurt the most for me. One of the stitches got pulled too tight, and I was in a lot of pain that day. Being awake on the vent was not comfortable either. I was extremely thirsty, and it was hard not to be able to talk or communicate.

Also waiting on the list and not showering for ten days were also hard for me. It goes through waves, good days and bad days.... but worth it in my opinion.
