It is an older drug than tobramycin. My impression based on what I've found about it online is that it is more widely used in Europe.

TOBI seems to be the 'new kid on the block' and perhaps more heavily promoted than colistin, especially for CF patients, since it was developed specifically for CF patients.
There have been studies that compare the two. Google.
