I keep coming to answer this & get side tracked....so sorry. Hemoptysis is bleeding from the respiratory tract somewhere. For some of us its a real problem for others it never happens. Some of us can control it with Vitamin K & others need a procedure called Embolization which is a caterization of the bleeding area. Many of these bleeds are from infections, but not all. For me it can be triggered by infeciton, physical exertion (lifting mainly), too much caffein or hormones (period time). I have had hemoptysis since almost my dx, but some havent had their first bleed until later on. It can range from anything from a bit of streaks of blood in the sputum called streaking to full blown hemoptysis which is pure blood. Some of us get a gurgling sensation in our chest before it happens. When this happens to me it means that it will not be just streaking, but pure blood. Its not "normal", but definitely common. I have known non CFers who had pneumonia that have had it. The lungs can only handle so much stress before an area becomes "weak". Its not something you have to go around worrying about, but its good to know of if it does happen. If you have any other ???? feel free to ask!
