I packed a bag and then left it in the car. I figured I wouldnt be able to get into those clothes for atleast a few days, so why lug it around. My mom ended up having to buy me all new clothes to wear because I retained alot of fluid( 20+ pounds post op) and couldnt fit into my pants. Once the chest tubes come out, wear real clothes, it will make you feel human again. Oh and bring toiletries and prepare yourself to wash up in the sink becasue alot of centers wont let you shower post op, so I went 3 weeks without one. My poor mom had to wash my hair in the sink every other day.
I also found that hard candies are the best thing in the world. I was NPO for weeks afterwards ( because of a post op ileus) but I was allowed to have Jolly Ranchers, so pack something like that.
Good luck on your transplant adventure!
