Try the nurse coordinator first. She should tell you to come in- at Children's, they would have me come to clinic and admit me through there as an emergency when I was sick. If that doesn't work, have clinic page the pulmonologist on call.

Your other option would be to grab your mask (or ask for one when you get there if you don't have one <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> ) and go to the ER of the hospital where you would be admitted normally (I am assuming where your clinic is), and ask them to page the cf/pulmonologist on call to let him/her know you have arrived. The "receptionists" should know better, and have refered you to the nurse coordinator...

Let us know how it goes! I hope they get you feeling better soon, but please go ahead and go get admitted!

Since DS's diagnosis, I've had to develop a tougher skin and be more assertive dealing with his doctors. When I get really annoyed, DH reminds me that "we're the customer". It's just frustrating sometimes, when it feels as if we're paying for this "abuse" -- being told that DS's cough is normal, it's what cfers do, when it's obvious he's got something going on. Sitting in an exam room for an hour and a half to see a doctor for a few minutes, when most of that time is spent getting told how we're doing everything wrong.

I just hate stepping on toes, being a bother. But when it comes to my sons health, I'm learning to speak up and if all else fails. Go elsewhere. Find someone who will listen.

I had a situation a few years ago and needed immediate medical attention as I believe you do. I called the doctor on the way to the emergency room and TOLD him I was coming. You need to get medical attention now. If I had'nt gotten there when I did I could of died

This post was the last one cysticfibrosisgirl has made. I've been wondering about how she is. I sent her a PM but got no response. With so many people going in for tune-ups and her description of how bad she felt, I thought maybe she is in lock-up. If anyone knows her and knows how she is, let us know.
