Well I ask the anon's why is that so wrong for a picture to be painted about one poster?

It tells others where you are coming from, what you have experience in, etc.
If you have a problem asking a question signed in why do you need anonymity? What is so bad about what you're asking what you're posting about that we should not be able to identify an online alias with. Yes this board is easy to find online but that doesn't mean that you have to be, if you censor yourselves. Even posting under anon doesn't save you from potentially being identified by a husband/boyfriend/boss/coworker if you say the right things.

Personally (<-- *Personally*) I think if you have trouble asking a question you should ask yourself what is so wrong with the question.. I've found with 'touchy' subjects that it's usually sexual related questions that are shied away from.. (but really what's wrong with sex questions, it's natural.. heck you wouldn't be here without sex). I think a lot of anonymous posting has to do with changing how you see a subject. This board is here for helping people, sometimes people do give opinions on a subject but usually (especially without the anonymous facade to hide beind) things are civil and without name calling. Not saying that things can't get heated but without the anonymous function there's a lot less name calling. But that's just me.

The difference is that an anonymous post could be identified in isolation, but that would be it. If I had hundreds of posts here under one name then anyone could look up every post I've ever written. Under anonymous you can't tell who I am or what my situation is. It doesn't have to do with touchy subjects, it has to do with the fact some of us are more comfortable this way, especially knowing our significant other prefers us not to talk about things like death, lifespan, transplants, etc. Not all situations are the same and I don't see why people can't understand this.

Just like you say "I don't see why people can't understand this" (your point of view). I think the same thing about why you can't understand mine. So clearly we just agree to disagree.

I don't mind the anon posts, although it makes it hard to keep track of which anon said what and to refer to someone's post, but as long as things don't get out of hand and a few don't ruin it for all... I suppose it's not a bad deal. I'm still on the fence, I see the purpose, but I also dont' get some peoples justifications for it.

I "understand" what you're saying, but if someone advocates eliminating anonymous posting then I think either they aren't understanding what I'm saying or are simply mean-spirited. Some of us will never register and people know this, so I don't see why they'd want to eliminate our posting due to a few small inconveniences. Remember, any trouble anonymous posters cause you and other registered members also affects us just the same. It's not as if we are a hive mind.

Hi Rebecca

I had a problem with logging in with a user name for months.
Finally sorted it out and now access Forum via Firefox.
Maybe you could e-mail Bill and he could try and sort it out
for you?
PS I'm 50:50 about the Anonymous situation, it has its advantages
and disadvantages. We'll just have to wait and see I suppose!

I have another reason for the value of anonymous posts.

For some reason I can not post if I'm logged in when using firefox. I can post as anonymous, but if there were no anonymous, I would be unable to post.

That was me, the booga booga one. It was late, I was tired and bored, and felt like having a little bit of fun.
