When to do the Neb Treatment (our current schedule listed)

Since it is the weekend/holidays we're unable to call our Clinic to see what they say about this but i thought maybe someone here may know.

Parker recently started on Pulmozyme and we were told to do his Albuterol BEFORE doing the Nebulizer w/Pulmo. My question is this - what if he does the 2 puffs of Albuterol 2x's/day? Should we be waiting until later in the night to do his Pulmo treatment or is it fine to do in the afternoon like we currently are?

Currently our schedule looks like this:

Sometime between 7:30am - 9:30am
- Inhaler (Albuterol) x2 puffs
- Source CF Ped Drops 1ml
- Zantac 1ml
- Saline mist which we leave sit for the 10min during PD&P
- PD&P 10min session
- Nose Frida loose boogies

Sometime between 12pm - 2pm
- Saline mist
- Pulmozyme Treatment
- Nose Frida

Sometime between 5pm - 7pm
- Inhaler (Albuterol) x2 puffs
- Zantac 1ml
- Saline mist
- PD&P 10min session
- Nose Frida

Anyone with any insight or experiences please do share. Just trying to make sure we're doing the best possible thing for our son and of course i always start thinking about things when our Clinic Team is gone for a week. We neb albuterol to open up the airways for chest physiotherapy. Then do pulmozyme when his albuterol neb runs out... Some people do the nebs first and then chest physiotherapy. We do it during.

Our routine is as Liza posted above- Emily does her albuterol prior to Pulmozyme during her bedtime tx. She used to use an inhaler; now she nebs it and when it's done she starts Pulmozyme.

We always start with albuterol. Then we do hypertonic saline, then pulmozyme with vest, then flovent and then Tobi. This is Marty's night time routine. If you want you could move the pulmozyme to either morning or night and do it in that order. Marty's clinic gave us a flow sheet of that order because the meds work best that way to clear the mucus. If it were me and we used your treatment schedule, I would move the Pulmozyme to the night time right after the saline mist. It won't add much time onto it. Hope this helps and Happy New Year!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

This is exactly what i was looking for! Thanks a ton! I was thinking the same thing but always start questioning myself if i should move things around or leave them be. My hubby usually works night shifts so i don't have that extra pair of hands which are handy with a 10wk old so we've always tried to get most of the bigger things out of the way in the morning and afternoon. PD&P takes so long and we're planning on increasing times slowly over the next couple of weeks to get to 20min sessions. Can't wait till he's big enough for a vest! haha!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

This is exactly what i was looking for! Thanks a ton! I was thinking the same thing but always start questioning myself if i should move things around or leave them be. My hubby usually works night shifts so i don't have that extra pair of hands which are handy with a 10wk old so we've always tried to get most of the bigger things out of the way in the morning and afternoon. PD&P takes so long and we're planning on increasing times slowly over the next couple of weeks to get to 20min sessions. You can give it a try with the Pulmozyme in the evening. If he coughs during the night then you'll want to pull the Pulmozyme back earlier in the day. Many adults can't handle doing Pulmo in their evening regimen because the Pulmo continues to work after the neb is complete for many hours. The body wants to get out that thinned mucus and therefore it induces coughing. This may not be an issue for an infant as hopefully there's no residual mucus in the lungs after the treatments like there are in adults. Just wanted to mention.

Oh and what is Nose Frida and CP&P?
