Who decides Port or PICC?

Briceton had his port placed just a few months ago! He was 8-9 months old at the time. I absolutly LOVE it, just one poke and IV fluids are moving! Home health comes out and flushes it once a month for us, eventually I will take over that though. But accessing his port doen't seem to bother him at all, he's 13 months old. I will say though, in NO way has having a port deleted ANY hospital stays for us. We are always admitted atleast for the first week and then sent home to finish out our 2-3 weeks. Personally, I like it better that way (more cautious) and they always want to see you.......for ANY reason!

I give the port a *thumbs up*

Also, if you'd like to see picture of the device that goes under the skin, here's a link to my blog:

Thanks for the video, Laura. I hope that the port is far, far, far in our future, but it does help knowing something about it. I just like to stay one step ahead, if that's at all possile with this disease. I really appreciate the information you a hhave to share! Thanks!
