Who decides Port or PICC?

Briceton had his port placed just a few months ago! He was 8-9 months old at the time. I absolutly LOVE it, just one poke and IV fluids are moving! Home health comes out and flushes it once a month for us, eventually I will take over that though. But accessing his port doen't seem to bother him at all, he's 13 months old. I will say though, in NO way has having a port deleted ANY hospital stays for us. We are always admitted atleast for the first week and then sent home to finish out our 2-3 weeks. Personally, I like it better that way (more cautious) and they always want to see you.......for ANY reason!

Thanks Lauren, these are great. I was going to do a video the next time we accessed Garran's but thats not til September. so that wont help Tami now. you are a brave woman to access it yourself. I couldnt stick myself with a needle. I am a chicken... lol... I would make someone else do it.....
