It's a tough call. I say bend a little. You'll be with him and you can always leave it it gets too bad or if he is upset. But, at nine, he is probably being exposed to more of this kind of "pretend" violence than you realize, and this is an opportunity for you to talk to him about fantasy vs. reality. And, he'll be thrilled.
I have the girl version of this...my 4 year old wants to see High School musical and HSM 2...these aren't necessiarly bad, but it spurrs a strange kind of make beleie play for a 4 year old. She and her friends play "dating" and "marriage" after watching them. THey get into really involved stories about who is dating woh and who is mad, complete with angry cell phone calls! *sigh* why can't they just stay little?
