I am a 36 yr old female with a yeast infection.....I think! It don't hurt to pee, or to have intercourse. It only hurts when I wipe after going pee. It is only in the area that is under my vagina that is connected to my bum and it looks like I have small paper cuts...and it's red too. I've tried monistat and vagistat 7 and neither have worked. I AM going back to the Dr but thought other women on here might be going throught the same thing. It's been about a month and a bit now since it's been here and about 7 days since I've used Vagistat 7 ( I think that's what the presciption is called).......and help?Thankx

I do get yeast infections, especially after IV's and my main symptom is usually itching and some light discharge. I always ask for Diflucan and that one pill seems to do it. My Dr will usually give me a refill, but I normally don't even need to use it.I hope whatever is bothering you gets taken care of soon

This may sound silly, but you may be wiping to hard. I had the same kind of thing happen last summer when I was camping alot. I didn't get to shower, so I'd kinda over-wipe. Your skin is really sensitive down there and can be "rubbed the wrong way" If it doesn't itch or burn and there isn't a discharge, it sounds like you just have a few tares. I used Vasaliene or a moistureizing cream a few times a day, as well as Neosporin. It takes a while because you have to wipe a few times a day.

Yeast infections can be very common, especially when on IV meds. The best way it was explained to me was that bacteria and yeast live together in harmony in the vagina, and when on antibiotics, the bacteria gets killed. So then the yeast takes over and has a little party. I've been on Zithromax permanently since December of 02. I was getting infections almost constantly, and still get them when I'm on IV antibiotics because they're far more powerful. The best thing to do for it is I take over the counter drugs that prevent yeast infections for the most part. I take acidopholous and AZO yeast. Once a day every day and it keeps most yeast infections away. I still get them sometimes, obviously. But the OTC drugs help quite a bit.

Hi,I often get those cuts because the yeast infection that is inside the vagina, the discharge gives you a small skin yeast infection.. which is what I was told by my gyno. She took a look and told me the infection would just be cleared out by one dose of diflucan.. 150mg i think.. check with your doc.. Since ive been on zithro for the last 8 months or so, ive just taken one pill at the beginning of the month for the last 8 months and it stops it from occuring at all..goodluck,

Hey how is everyone? Well here it goes. An yeast infection consists of A) itching B) smell C) discharge D) or pain or burning when peeingOtherwise, it isn't an yeast infection! At your age, (no offense) but the lining around the vagina tends to wear thin! Well, and guess what? Yep, it hurts. You get paper cuts just from movements, underwear, touching, wipping, sex or other irratating stuff down below. I went for a biopsy, but before he punctured me to get a piece of me, he confirmed that my skin is thin and sensitive to stuff. After my second child was born it got worst. Anyway, he prescribed cream. Yes estrogen cream called "premarin" vaginal cream. Just rub it around the outside of the vagina on a regular basis and it builds the layer of skin so it isn't so sensitive. Try it, it work for me in about two weeks, now I only use it when I get what I called paper cuts. That is exactly how I explained it to the guino!! take care.

Try KY Jelly if you're not already for the dryness and Vagisil or something like that for the cuts as long as it doesn't burn when applied.

I actually had an argument with a male doc the last time I was in the hospital - I was on 4 antibiotics and had the most horrible yeast infection to the point that I didn't want to pee because of stinging the raw skin down there. He had the nerve to tell me I didn't need diflucan! I argued with him for 10 minutes and forced him to get it for me. This was a few days into the visit and I had been suffering the entire time - when I first arrived in the hospital, the first thing I asked for was Diflucan and they forgot!!! So when I confronted this doctor and he said no - I said: "Have you ever HAD a yeast infection?? I don't think so! You have no idea how painful it is!" So anyway, he gave it to me and even though Diflucan should work in 24 hours, I had to stay on it for one week for it to work!By the way - if you do get Diflucan - you can take up to 400mg in a day - my doc now let's me just keep a bottle and I dose myself if it acts up. I found that the 100mg tabs don't work in 24 hours, so I usually take two tabs to see if that'll clear it up in two days - so just be aware that even if they ordeer the 100mg, you can up the dose.Anyway - I have also suffered hemorrhoids and ended up wiping the area you mention too much - causing little tears all over down there. The best thing (which also eases yeast infection symptoms) are those hemorrhoid wipes you can buy at any drug store. Preparation H makes the wipes - you can buy them in a box that you can keep atop your toilet, OR (and I love these) they sell them in little individual pouches so you can put them in your purse. By the way - this is great to use regularly when you are having those hard to wipe days that we have due to soft stools.Piper

piper fortunately ive never had to deal with male doctors for thrush and i dont want to either after hearing that. i always go to a female gp. oh and tell me about stubborn infections. one gp told me the only way to get rid of my thrush is to use canesten for 2 WEEKS! i always have mild thrush hanging around, i guess im naturally more prone to getting it and everything on top of that make it 10 times worse. is diflucan an anti fungal oral medicine? i might ask my gp about that next time i have big problems. seems more sensible than having to use canesten. thanks for sharing the hemorroid thing with us [im serious, not joking!]. my dad is suffering badly from them and he needs an operation. i will tell him about the wipes!

Kylie - yep - Diflucan is taken orally and so no mess! Also - if you get thrush in your mouth (I get this from my inhalers) ask about the mycelex troche - it is a lozenge (shape, size, texture of a Tums tablet) that you suck on and it wipes it out overnight. My doc said it does the same thing as Diflucan so maybe the troche also works for "down there". (By the way - on a funny note - one of my doctors is in his 80s, and last I was in the hospital - he said - in front of all the other male docs standing in my room - do you have thrush in your vagina? - this word should never be uttered by a man of this age!!!)

I found some great remedies for yeast infections from my midwife. 1) Acidophilus pills - try to find the ones that are enteric coated to survive stomach acid, the acidophilus needs to get all the way into your intestine as a live bacteria. You cannot take too much. When I'm on antibiotics and for about 2-3 weeks after I get off them, I take 3 pills each before or between meals. They are best taken when stomach acids are lowest so they have better survival through the stomach.2) yogurt - you can eat it (acidophilus is the bacteria present in yogurt) or you can actually smear it on the affected area ( put a pad on afterward ) - the cool feels really good. You can also douche with it.3) apple cidar vinegar - make a little sitz bath or douche with it ( diluted so you don't burn ). 4) Calendula cream - Hyland's makes a diaper cream for babies from calendula (so does Earth Friendly Baby) which is great for yeast infections and it has no medicine-smelling odor.If you want to go with a prescription Diflucan is the best. I have found that it helps to use a couple methods together. Like Acidophilus, preventatively, Diflucan, if it gets bad and Vagisil or Calendula for the topical discomfort. HollyCatheryn

PS - the acidophilus and/or gargling a vinegar solution can really help the oral thrush that some of us get when we get a vaginal yeast infection.HC

Hi....37 yr old with CF. If it don't hurt to pee or to have intercourse it ain't a yeast infection. Do you use pads or tampons when you get your period? If you use pads it could be from them(from wearing them for tooo long) I use pads and occationaly it happens to me. And or you can just be wiping tooo hard.

Hi....me again. You could also buy a bottle of Aphidolpolous and take it on a regular basis. I t doesn't keep yeast infections from coming it just controls them better. I take it 3 times a day...or whatever it says on the bottle.
